Singapore – The Buddhist and Pali College of Singapore celebrated a significant milestone on 25th August 2024, as 103 Singaporeans were awarded Masters degrees, Bachelor degrees, and diplomas in Buddhist Studies. The ceremony took place at the Mangala Vihara in Singapore and was graced by distinguished guests and dignitaries.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, Professor Neluwe Sumanawansa Thero, conferred the degrees and diplomas. The event also saw the presence of the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore, Mr. Senarath Dissanayake, who attended as the special guest. Mrs. Malka Hewavitharana, Senior Assistant Registrar of the Buddhist and Pali University, was also in attendance.
Several notable figures addressed the ceremony, including:
- Professor Neluwe Sumanawansa Thero, Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka
- Pupule Seelananda Thero, Principal of the Buddhist and Pali College of Singapore and chief incumbent of the Mangala Vihara
- Mr. Senarath Dissanayake, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore
- Dr. Lim Ah Swan, Chairman of Mangala Vihara Management Committee
- Kovida Jebsons Chia, Chairman of the Old Pupils Association of Buddhist and Pali College
- Ms. Lim Aileng, representing the graduates and diplomates
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore has been instrumental in facilitating the examinations conducted by the Buddhist and Pali College, working closely with the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. The university boasts 12 affiliated institutions worldwide and has been dedicated to spreading Buddha’s teachings for four decades.

For over thirty years, the Buddhist and Pali College has been offering diplomas, graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree courses in Buddhism and Buddhist Studies in affiliation with the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. Thousands of students have successfully completed these courses, earning diplomas and degrees.

During the ceremony, tokens of appreciation were presented to the teaching and administrative staff of the Buddhist and Pali College, acknowledging their dedicated service.
